Nicolas Pepe is expected to make a return to Ligue 1, with Nice interested to sign the winger on loan for the 22/23 season. An agreement is yet to be reached for the transfer, but the two clubs are progressing in talks for the move.
With only two years remaining on his contract, it is likely that he will be moved on next summer, if not this year. Mikel Arteta has not included him in his plans for the season, and new arrival Marquinhos is set to stay and compete for a place in the starting line-up.
Nicolas Pepe to join Nice on loan
Since making his £72 million move from Lille, Nicolas Pepe has struggled to nail down a place in the starting line-up. In 112 games for the club, he has scored 27 times, and looks unlikely to start ahead of Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka on the wings.
In July, the player said that he was keen to turn things around at Arsenal. But, the Ivory Coast international might not have the time to do so. Nicolas Pepe was able to perform impressively at Ligue 1, and he could find his form again with a return to France in the coming days.
Arsenal are currently at the top of the table, with three wins from their first three games in the Premier League – their best start since 2004.
