Nico Williams has informed Athletic Club that he will be staying with them for the 24-25 season amidst interest from Barcelona and PSG for a transfer. The winger made a name for himself at Euro 2024 with a brilliant performance on the left wing as Spain lifted the trophy.
The 22-year-old scored two goals and provided one assist in six games at the tournament, and was a constant threat on the flank. His pace and dribbling skills were very challenging for defenders to deal with, and he scored in the finals against England, too.

Barcelona were keen on signing the winger for the coming window, but couldn’t reach an agreement with the player. Paris Saint-Germain were also interested in signing him, but were recently informed by his agent about his decision to stay.
Nico Williams has a contract with Athletic Club till 2027, and recently won the Copa del Rey with them. It’ll be interesting to see if Barcelona wait and try to sign him again next year, since he will be available on the market.
However, with the signing of Dani Olmo this summer, they might not want to come back around for the Spain international.
