Nico Williams is the subject of intense transfer speculation this summer. And according to El Chiringuito, the player has accepted a five-year contract proposal from Barcelona for a potential transfer.

Several other clubs such as PSG, Arsenal and Chelsea are also trying to sign the Spain international. And any club that wants to get the deal over the line will have to pay the €58 million release clause in his contract with Athletic Club.

As things stand, Barcelona are still not close to triggering the release clause owing to their LaLiga FFP restrictions. However, the club is optimistic that they can get the deal over the line in the coming weeks.

Athletic Club, on the other hand, are quite confident that their number 11 will report for pre-season training and will continue at the club.

The 22-year-old was brilliant at Euro 2024 and played an influential role in helping Spain win the trophy. He scored in the final, and was a constant threat on the left wing every time he took to the pitch. Now, Athletic Club have a big decision to make as to whether they want to keep the player or cash in on him this summer, now that the hype surrounding him is at its peak.
