Nico Schlotterbeck is all set to join Borussia Dortmund this summer, with the two parties reaching an agreement on personal terms for the move. He is set to become the second confirmed signing for Dortmund this summer after Niklas Sule from Bayern Munich.
The Bavarians made a late offer for Schlotterbeck, and offered him a significantly higher salary than the one he currently earns. But, the player made a promise to the Black and Yellow club and will follow through with it at the end of the season.
Nico Schlotterbeck to join Dortmund despite Bayern interest
The Freiburg centre-back has been remarkable this season, and was recently called up to Hansi Flick’s Germany national team squad. He will be making the move to Westfalenstadion for €20 million, and will be signing a multi-year contract with the club.
Schlotterbeck will be paid a salary worth €6 million once he puts pen to paper for the transfer.
His signing will be a huge boost for the Borussen next season, as they have struggled defensively over the last few years. With Sule, Nico Schlotterbeck, Mats Hummels and Dan Zagadou all in the team, we can expect an improved performance from Marco Rose’s backline.
Borussia Dortmund are also working to sign Karim Adeyemi from RB Salzburg, with Erling Haaland’s departure to Manchester City seemingly confirmed. The two clubs are in the final stages of reaching an agreement over the transfer fee before it is made official.
