Fans have been asking one question for months: where is Nick Fury? Now the man himself has an answer. [Samuel L. Jackson](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samuel_L._Jackson) told The Direct that he won’t appear in *Avengers: Doomsday*, but he will be back in the movie after it, *Avengers: Secret Wars*.

## What Jackson Said on Nick Fury?

On the red carpet for *The Beast*, Jackson was told fans haven’t seen him in a while. His reply was simple: the next movie, meaning the one after *Doomsday*. When asked for teasers about *Secret Wars*, he played coy and said he has “no idea” about the story. According to him, Marvel only told him he wouldn’t be in *Doomsday* but would be in the next film. That also contradicts an earlier report that Fury would return in *Doomsday*.

## Where We Last Saw Fury?

Fury’s recent MCU path has been more isolated. He spent much of his time offworld after the Blip, then returned in *Secret Invasion* and *The Marvels*, where he ran SABER and teamed up with Captain Marvel and Kamala Khan. He was last seen on Earth with the Khan family, so his story clearly isn’t over.

## A Possible Role in Battleworld

*Secret Wars* is rumoured to adapt the Battleworld storyline, where Doctor Doom rules a rewritten world. In the comics, a small group of survivors remember what happened and secretly resist Doom. The Direct suggests Fury could organise that resistance, sorting the reliable from the compromised and coordinating strikes. That would be a full-circle moment, since he assembled the Avengers in the first place. Treat this as speculation, since Marvel hasn’t confirmed his role.

| Why Fury Fits | Reason |
| --- | --- |
| Spy experience | Dealt with Skrull betrayal and Hydra’s SHIELD takeover |
| Outside view | Spent the Multiverse Saga watching Earth from afar |
| Leadership | Built the Avengers once before |

## What About Captain Marvel?

Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel isn’t confirmed for *Doomsday* either, despite a hint that her symbol may have inspired a design on Doom’s costume. With Fury confirmed for *Secret Wars*, it seems logical that Carol Danvers could return too, though that’s just a theory.
