Neymar has revealed that Lionel Messi, his former Barcelona and PSG teammate, wanted him to sign for Inter Miami. The Argentine made the move last year, after leaving PSG as a free agent. And alongside him, his former Barcelona teammates Luis Suarez, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba have followed.
Suarez was the latest of the group to sign for the MLS club – with the Uruguayan ending his spell with Brazilian club Gremio to join them in the winter transfer window. As a result, there is a full-blown Barcelona reunion in Miami and the arrival of Neymar would have only made it more iconic.
Neymar reveals Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami transfer suggestionÂ
The Brazilian is currently injured, and has spent a significant amount of time on the sidelines after signing for Al Hilal in the summer for around €80 million. He became the record signing for the Saudi Arabian club, but was unable to make as much of an impact as hopes for, and the injury only added to their woes.
But only a year after signing and a handful of appearances, a departure would be difficult to arrange contractually. Therefore, it seems likely that Neymar is set to stay exactly where he is even though he has been de registered by the club while he recovers from his injury.
Lionel Messi and Neymar formed one of the most formidable attacking duos in football history during their time together at both Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). Their partnership on the pitch was characterized by a seamless blend of individual brilliance, creativity, and mutual understanding, resulting in countless memorable moments and an impressive trophy haul.
At Barcelona, Messi and Neymar’s playing styles complemented each other perfectly. Messi, with his extraordinary vision, dribbling ability, and playmaking skills, often operated as the orchestrator-in-chief, dictating the tempo of the game and unlocking defenses with his precise passes and incisive runs. Meanwhile, Neymar’s electrifying pace, dazzling dribbles, and clinical finishing added a new dimension to Barcelona’s attack, providing a dynamic edge and an additional goal-scoring threat.
Their on-field chemistry translated into remarkable success, with Messi and Neymar playing pivotal roles in Barcelona’s trophy-laden era under coach Luis Enrique. Together, they won numerous domestic titles, including La Liga and Copa del Rey triumphs, as well as the UEFA Champions League in the 2014-2015 season.
Following Neymar’s move to PSG in 2017, the duo was reunited once again, this time in the French capital. Their partnership continued to flourish, with Messi and Neymar forming a lethal attacking triumvirate alongside Kylian Mbappe. Despite facing stiff competition in Ligue 1, they guided PSG to multiple domestic trophies, including league titles and domestic cup victories.
Individually, both Messi and Neymar maintained impressive statistics during their time together. Messi continued to assert his dominance as one of the greatest players of all time, consistently delivering outstanding performances and racking up goals and assists. Similarly, Neymar showcased his immense talent and flair, regularly contributing goals, assists, and dazzling moments of individual brilliance.
While their time together at Barcelona and PSG may have been relatively brief, the impact of Messi and Neymar’s partnership transcended mere statistics and accomplishments. Their on-field chemistry, mutual respect, and shared ambition to achieve greatness epitomized the essence of teamwork and elevated both players to legendary status in the annals of football history.
