The rumours linking Neymar Jr with a return to Barcelona have now died down almost completely. The player is now on the verge of committing to a future at Paris Saint-Germain, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The people surrounding Neymar are confident that the winger likes the project in place at the club and is willing to stay at the club for the years to come. The contract to be signed runs until 2026 and includes a heavy bonus in the event that PSG win the Champions League.

Neymar is expected to sign soon his new contract with Paris Saint-Germain until June 2026, huge UCL bonus confirmed too. His entourage just announced to France Football: “Neymar wants to stay at PSG. He sees that the club is growing. He likes the project”. 🇧🇷 #PSG https://t.co/LMnrpctSkx

The French Champions came mighty close to winning the trophy last time around, progressing to the finals of the competition for the first time in their history. However, Hansi Flick’s Bayern Munich were the better team on the night and went on to lift their sixth Champions League trophy.

Paris have the chance to exact revenge against Bayern with them having a lead against the Bavarians in the first leg of the quarter-finals, and could move to the final stages of the tournament again. Neymar provided an unbelievable assist for Marquinhos’ goal against Bayern, and despite his injury struggles, has been ever so important for Mauricio Pochettino.

The contract is expected to be signed in the weeks to come and Neymar, in all probability, will not see a return to Barcelona in the years that follow the signing of the contract extension.

PSG are expected to start negotiations with Kylian Mbappe regarding a stay at the club as well, and that will only prompt more success to be expected from the trench outfit.
