Al Hilal have confirmed an ACL and meniscus injury to Neymar following Brazil’s game against Uruguay. Not only was Neymar stretchered off the field in tears, but Brazil also went on to lose the game 2-0, losing their first World Cup Qualifier in years.

The serious injury is likely to keep Neymar sidelined for at least 4-5 months. It is a doubt whether he could return in time for the 2024 Copa America with Brazil, or the end of the season with Al Hilal.

“It’s very sad moment, the worst of my life”.

“I know I’m strong… but this time I need support of my family and my friends,” Neymar said in response to the injury he recently suffered.

“It’s not easy to get injured, undergo surgery and then… do it again just four months later.

I have faith, I leave it in God’s hands”.

The winger will undergo surgery to repair his injured knee, with a timeline not yet placed as to when he could be back. It is also a major blow to Al Hilal, who were expecting Neymar’s leadership in attack to help them challenge for the Saudi Pro League title, with rising competition at the top.

And without the Brazilian, the other players will have to step up and compensate for him to try and keep their title hopes alive.
