Next-Gen Jeep Compass SUV Teased: Global Debut Set for 2025, But India Launch Canceled

Stellantis has officially teased the next generation of Compass SUV which will sit in Jeep’s global line-up. This model is due to be launched in 2025 and will represent a baptism of water for the Compass even if, in its current form, it has just arrived at its second generation. The second-generation Compass came to India primarily in 2017 with a mid-life facelift.

The Upcoming Next-Gen Jeep Compass SUV

Prominent in the teaser is the side profile of the new Compass, which features a much sharper design than before but a familiar Jeep face. The vehicle will also have a flat hood and a roof that slopes subtly into the rear. It features beefy wheel arches with cladding and a strong character line that runs from the front to the rear door before flicking up.

The new design also gets a floating roof effect through blacked-out D-pillars and quarter-glass surrounds. Below the rear glass, the tail-lights edge becomes squarish and oriented horizontally, extending far between rear doors and known to up into the top-center of the cargo area all but reserve left-majority of space indicate half-open liftgate ends; in front of a tall vertical-factory rectangle bumper end.

The SUV will use the STLA M platform that’s set to underpin a number of models from Jeep Met stable such as the redesigned Grand Cherokee and according to an earlier report, future offerings from brands like Peugeot and Opel, which are also part of Stellantis. The platform was also expected to underpin the next-generation Citroen C5 Aircross SUV.

Jeep is going to use a two or three-gradient drive system in a new Compass. The STLA M or Stellantis Modular EV platform can take internal combustion engines (ICE), mild hybrids, plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV), and BEVs.

However, the new Compass will not be available in India. The local project, codenamed J4U, is postponed until 2026 due to the platform’s lack of commercial viability for the Indian market. Consequently, Jeep will continue to offer the current-generation Compass, which has been around since 2017 and will remain available with the current diesel engine until 2026. Jeep is expected to introduce a new SUV based on the Citroen platform by 2027.
