The new uniforms of the women’s football team of the United States have been revealed now, ahead of the women’s world cup in the summer. US Soccer, along with Nike, has unveiled the team’s home as well as away jerseys that the national side of the country is going to wear during the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. The kits, which the team will debut in their upcoming April friendly fixtures against the Republic of Ireland, are now can be purchased until April 12 in an ‘early access window’ in the first round of sales.
The United States Soccer’s website has revealed that the design of the kits will represent a mixture of modernity as well as antiquity, and there will be design making visual references to cultural references along with pioneering art movements from the early to the mid-20th century.
US Soccer on their official website
The United States Soccer, on their official website, explained regarding it that starting with listening to the players who embrace their roles as trendsetters as well as boundary-pushers, the design, the colours, along with the aesthetic of the jerseys were heavily influenced and built by the footballers.
The insights of those players were combined with the inspiration of the designers of Nike from abstract expressionism, which is an international art movement that started in the 1940s in New York and shifted the art epicenter from Europe to the United States. This is similar to what the USA team has exactly done to the women’s soccer team.
Throughout the overall collection as well as on the uniform, is a custom “United States of America” signature. The bespoke mark is hand painted with ink on paper. Also, there is a nod to the abstract expressionism movement, where each artist would sign their painting. The inner pride mark of the USA celebrates the USWNT’s four Women’s World Cup championships in 1991, 1999, 2015 and 2019.
