Qualcomm has announced the prior successor to its successful Snapdragon 710 chipset i.e. the new Snapdragon 712. This new mobile processor has slight improvement in performance than its predecessor and brings lots of new features as well.
Like the SD 710, this one too is built on the 10nm FinFET process and the sophisticated, multicore Qualcomm AI Engine. Qualcomm claims this new 64-bit processor will deliver 10 per cent better performance than its predecessor.
Specifications & Improvements
The Snapdragon 712 comes equipped with eight Kryo 360 cores paired with Adreno 616 GPU and Qualcomm Hexagon 685 DSP. Though it may feature the same 8 x Kryo 360 cores as SD 710, this time clocked at 2.3GHz.
Qualcomm even claims that the Snapdragon 712 has been designed to deliver console-level gaming experience with more immersive multimedia consumption experience because of the improved colour rendering and audio output.

The Snapdragon 712 still has the same Cat. 15 LTE as the Snapdragon 710 and has support tri-band Wi-Fi for wireless connectivity : 2.4GHz, 5GHz, and 60GHz WiFi bands.
On the camera front, the Snapdragon 712 SoC comes with the Spectra 250 ISP that supports for up to 20-megapixel dual cameras or a single 32-megapixel single camera. You can also capture 4K video at 30fps and full-HD video recording at 120fps.
The platform supports 4K Ultra HD video playback on an HDR 10-supported display with a maximum resolution of QHD+ (1440×3360 pixels) so that you can enjoy rich, deep graphics.
There is support for Bluetooth 5.0 and the Qualcomm Hexagon 685 DSP handles the on-device automation processes for better efficient power management as well as usage optimisation.
