On Sunday, the New Orleans Pelicans completed the greatest comeback in franchise history in beating the Boston Celtics, in overtime, 120-115.

Initially, The Pelicans watched as the Celtics stretched their lead to 24 points halfway through the third quarter, and it seemed as though the Pelicans were on their way to another disappointing loss. Instead of folding and wilting away like they have done multiple times this season, New Orleans responded.

Brandon Ingram scored a game-high of 33 points. With 34.4 seconds remaining, he knocked down a three-pointer to put New Orleans up 115-112. Zion Williamson added 28 points, 10 rebounds and four assists.

From the 6:29 mark of the third quarter till the end of overtime, New Orleans held Boston to only 36 points on 32% shooting as they stormed back to finish the largest comeback in franchise history with a 120-115 victory.

“It was a big win for us. We stayed true to who we were,” said Pelicans’ Zion Williamson. “We rallied back. Everybody, the coaches, the players, the ball boys, everybody was just engaged. We needed all that energy, and we pulled through.”

“There were a lot of things we didn’t do, but we kept fighting,” said head coach Stan Van Gundy during the postgame. “We were down 24, we kept fighting and nobody dropped their heads tonight. We were resilient and we came away with a win.”

“Today was a day of encouragement,” Ingram said. “We just stayed together and everybody did things that they do well.”
