Another Nintendo Switch 2 leak has emerged, this time featuring images of a case and a tempered glass screen protector posted on Alibaba. These images were soon spread by users on Reddit, after yesterday’s leak of a purported new controller design. Though the legitimacy of these leaks isn’t fully known yet, the increase in such reports seems to imply that the product is landing in more hands, meaning there’s hope that Nintendo will disclose further details sometime soon. The rumors first started years ago, and both consumers and journalists are getting tired of waiting.

Nintendo Switch 2 Case and Screen Protector Possibly Leaked on Alibaba, Hinting at Upcoming Launch

Nintendo has committed to showing off the new hardware (widely nicknamed the Switch 2, although the official name has not been confirmed) before the end of its fiscal year, which wraps in March 2025. The timing would coincide with the eighth anniversary of the original Switch’s launch, and fans are hoping to get official word soon.

As for specs, Switch 2 will reportedly be powered by NVIDIA’s Tegra T239 chipset, which has an Ampere-powered GPU with 1280 CUDA cores and an 8-core ARM Cortex A78 CPU. The console will also reportedly feature 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM, broken up into two 6GB modules, and 256GB of storage — an enormous upgrade over the original Switch’s RAM and storage capabilities. The RAM would be thrice more than the original and the storage would be eight times larger.

The chipset would reportedly support NVIDIA’s Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) Super Resolution and Ray Reconstruction, possibly giving the console ray tracing support. However, frame generation is not likely to be supported. With the Switch 2 having less raw power than even the Xbox Series S, the lowest-spec console of this generation, its games are insulated to its hardware, possibly allowing them to over-perform.
