Recently an alleged roadmap appeared online which details the Intel HEDT & Mainstream CPU families. Videocardz has leaked out the roadmap & it shows that Intel’s next-generation HEDT platform will be available for the customers next year. The leaked roadmap indicates some interesting details about the Sapphire Rapids & W790 lineup.

According to the alleged roadmap, Glacier Falls, Intel’s last HEDT family, will be replaced by the Sapphire Rapids HEDT family in Q2 2022. There’s no confirmation of how accurate this roadmap is; however, it seems to be based on the same layout that was leaked in an older roadmap a week ago.

As we know that Sapphire Rapids HEDT CPUs will be supported by the W790 chipset instead of a standard ‘X’ series chip. The Xeon W-3175X (Skylake-X) already exists for the workstation segment, which supports a non-X chipset. Analysts claim that team blue aims to tackle AMD Ryzen Threadripper & Threadripper Pro series CPUs with its HEDT & workstation lineup.

From what we know so far, it’s common knowledge that Intel’s Xeon-based Sapphire Rapids-SP chips will feature up to 56 cores and an LGA 4677 socket compatibility. Rumours also indicate that the 10nm Enhanced SuperFin architecture will be used in Sapphire Rapids CPUs, and it will also have PCIe 5.0 support.
