New AMD Radeon Pro 5000 Series GPUs make its way on the updated 27-inch iMac

AMD has launched its new PRO series GPUs in the form of Radeon Pro 5000 series which will be first spotted on the updated 27-inch Apple iMac. These new AMD Radeon Pro 5000 series GPUs are able to handle graphic-intensive workloads and applications that require a lot of GPU horsepower. Both consumer and professional users can benefit from these new GPUs.

These GPUs are built upon the 7nm process and based on advanced AMD RDNA graphics architecture, featuring up to 40 compute units. Also, you get up to 16GB of high-speed GDDR6 memory and delivers up to a whopping 7.6 teraflops of single-precision (FP32) computational performance.

AMD launches Radeon Pro 5600M Navi 12 GPU with HBM2 memory, debuts on 16-inch MacBook Pro

“AMD Radeon Pro 5000 series GPUs bring new levels of performance and flexibility to the updated 27-inch iMac,” said Scott Herkelman, corporate vice president and general manager, Graphics Business Unit at AMD. “The new AMD GPUs offer the optimal combination of computing performance, energy efficiency, and outstanding graphics features to power a wide range of applications – from consumer to pro – wherever graphics matter the most.”

There are four GPUs in this series: AMD Radeon Pro 5700 XT, AMD Radeon Pro 5700, AMD Radeon Pro 5500 XT, and AMD Radeon Pro 5300. The notable features of these GPUs as AMD points out are:

  • Exceptional compute performance – Up to 7.6 TFLOPS of single-precision (FP32) floating-point performance.
  • GDDR6 memory – Up to 16GB of GDDR6 memory with 384 GB/s bandwidth provides ultra-fast transfer speeds to power data-intensive pro applications.
  • AMD RDNA architecture – AMD RDNA architecture was designed from the ground up for superior performance and power efficiency. It is built on industry-leading 7nm FinFET process technology, providing up to 1.5X higher performance per watt compared to the previous-generation graphics architecture.

The price of these new Apple 27-inch iMacs start at $1,799 with Intel CPUs and AMD Radeon Pro 5000 series GPUs. Head over to www.apple.com/imac/ to know more.
