Neighbourhood misfits. Accidental superpowers. A city on the brink. Netflix just dropped the most chaotically charming K-drama concept of 2026 — and it stars Park Eun Bin and Cha Eun Woo. Yes, really.

### What Is *The WONDERfools*?

*The WONDERfools* is a superpower comic action set in 1999, a time when apocalyptic beliefs were rampant. It follows a group of neighbourhood misfits who unexpectedly gain superpowers and fight against villains threatening the peace of Haeseong City.

Think less polished superhero blockbuster, more loveable underdogs-with-chaos energy — and that’s exactly what makes it so exciting. The 1999 setting gives it a wonderfully nostalgic backdrop too, perfectly timed as [superhero fiction](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Superhero_fiction) continues to dominate global screens.

*The WONDERfools* is set to premiere on **May 15**.

### Meet the Characters — Each One More Wonderfully Messy Than the Last

#### 🌀 Eun Chae Ni — Park Eun Bin

Chae Ni is the granddaughter of the family that owns Haeseong’s most popular Keunson Restaurant. Having lived with a heart condition since childhood, she’s grown up with a headstrong personality and is known as the “hot mess” of the city. Her newly acquired power? Random, uncontrollable teleportation. The stills show her looking absolutely bewildered — and we are already obsessed.

#### 🔮 Lee Un Jeong — Cha Eun Woo

Un Jeong is a special-hire civil servant at the Haeseong City civil complaints office with a mysterious past, and is a psychic capable of using telekinesis. Just as he attempts to hide his powers and live a quiet life, he finds himself entangled with the trio. A man in a suit hiding cosmic secrets? Cha Eun Woo was born for this role. #### 🍳 Son Gyeong Hun — Choi Dae Hoon

Gyeong Hun earned the nickname “Haeseong City’s biggest nuisance” for constantly filing noisy complaints at City Hall. His superpower? Pot lids stuck to both hands. The “stickiness” ability sounds ridiculous — and that’s entirely the point. Comedy gold incoming.

#### 💪 Kang Ro Bin — Im Seong Jae

Ro Bin is known as “Haeseong City’s biggest pushover” due to his timid and soft-hearted nature — but he effortlessly lifts a police car, demonstrating superhuman strength that stands in complete contrast to his personality. The gentlest person with the most powerful ability. That irony alone will carry entire episodes.

### Why This Drama Is Worth Your Time

*The WONDERfools* hits a sweet spot that’s hard to find — it’s funny, action-packed, and rooted in characters you’ll genuinely root for. The 1999 apocalyptic-fear setting adds cultural depth, while four wildly different powers create infinite comedic and dramatic possibilities.

Park Eun Bin has a proven track record of picking brilliant projects, and with Cha Eun Woo playing against type as a secretive psychic, this could be the breakout ensemble drama of the year.
