## What’s the Story of Solo Leveling?

Decades ago, mysterious portals began opening across Earth, unleashing monsters and simultaneously awakening supernatural abilities in certain humans — called hunters — who are tasked with fighting back. Sung Jin-woo is one of the weakest hunters alive, an E-Rank who scrapes by dungeon to dungeon. But after barely surviving a catastrophically powerful “double dungeon,” he is chosen by a mysterious system that grants him the unique ability to level up indefinitely — growing stronger with each fight, each quest, each challenge.

What unfolds is a jaw-dropping power fantasy that had the webtoon racking up **14.3 billion cumulative views worldwide** and the anime sweeping nine major categories at the 2025 Crunchyroll Anime Awards, including Anime of the Year.

## Star-Studded Cast Confirmed

**Byeon Woo-seok** leads the series as Sung Jin-woo. Known to Netflix audiences through *Lovely Runner*, *Record of Youth*, and *20th Century Girl*, he brings both the dramatic depth and physical screen presence the role demands.

**Han So-hee** is expected to play Cha Hae-in, Korea’s only female S-Rank Hunter and one of the most beloved characters in the entire franchise. Her powerful performances in *My Name* and *Gyeongseong Creature* make her a dream casting choice.

**Kang You-seok** is in talks for the role of Yoo Jin-ho, the D-Rank Hunter who becomes Jin-woo’s loyal companion. He’s well known from *When Life Gives You Tangerines* and *Start Up*.

## Why This Could Be Netflix’s Biggest K-Drama Yet

Netflix has proven it can handle high-stakes adaptations — *Alice in Borderland* and the live-action *One Piece* are among the best manga/anime adaptations ever made. *Solo Leveling* comes in with a fanbase that dwarfs almost anything Netflix has adapted before. The 3–4 month filming schedule and heavy VFX requirements suggest the production will be extensive — which is exactly what a story of this scale deserves.
