Netflix is so confident in its upcoming *Little House on the Prairie* reboot that Season 2 is already being lined up for cameras — before a single episode of Season 1 has been seen by the public. That’s the kind of bold bet that only happens when a streamer truly believes in a project. Here’s everything we know.

## Little House on the Prairie Season 2 Is Already in Motion — Here’s the Timeline

As reported in issue 1493 of *Production Weekly*, Season 2 of Netflix’s *Little House on the Prairie* is being eyed to begin filming in June 2026 and wrap by November 2026 — mirroring almost exactly the Season 1 production schedule, which ran from June 10 to October 2025.

## What Is the New Show About?

The Netflix adaptation follows the Ingalls family as they move from their Wisconsin farm to a log house built on Native American territory in Kansas in 1869 — risking hardship, illness, land disputes, and clashes with both the U.S. Government and Native Americans during their two-year stay. The series covers 22 years of the Ingalls story from 1872 to 1894 — meaning, just as the classic NBC version ran for nearly a decade with Melissa Gilbert growing up on screen, Netflix’s adaptation with Alice Halsey as Laura could potentially run for the same length of time. The [Little House on the Prairie](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Little_House_on_the_Prairie_(TV_series)) franchise first became a beloved American television classic when it aired on NBC from 1974 to 1983 — and Netflix’s reimagining is clearly built to honour that generational legacy.
