Netflix introduces a new profile transfer feature. Recently, it has lost a lot of potential subscribers, this has happened due to password sharing among friends and family. The OTT platform is now trying to handle this situation and also preventing users to share their account passwords with others. In order to prevent this situation and to regain its subscribers, Netflix has introduced a new feature called “Profile Transfer”.
The new profile transfer feature of the OTT platform allows users to migrate their personal and curated profiles from someone else’s account to their new account.

On 17th October 2022, Netflix made the announcement that users can now transfer an existing profile to a new account without deleting the content recommendations, My List, saved games, viewing history, and personal settings. It has come to hear that the company is trying to make this feature hassle-free and allow users to save their account data and can also move away from various situations like moving out of the house.
The new feature of Netflix is mainly focused on pursuing all users to create a new account without losing any of their preferences and all the saved contents keeping intact. In this feature, all the personal curated content will be transferred to a new account. It is quite a decent feature that Netflix has introduced in order to regain all the lost subscribers by pushing users to create their accounts instead of sharing passwords.
In order to tackle the situation of the password-sharing scenario recently, Netflix has also implemented some other changes. If someone is identified with account logins from different regions or locations, one has to add a fee of $2.99 in order to do that, and also if one wishes to keep on sharing your password with friends or family. The extra fee is charged for “Extra Members”. For Netflix, the Profile Transfer feature makes sense as it would help users create their accounts without losing data.
It has come to hear that Netflix has confirmed the data of its lost subscribers. It lost almost more than 200,000 subscribers in Q1 of 2022. This has happened due to users sharing their passwords with family or friends as discussed above. In addition to this, the numbers are also going down for Netflix because users are moving to other streaming platforms like Disney+, Apple TV+, and HBO Max. One of the reasons why users are shifting to other platforms is affordability and the selection of content available.
