Her last theatrical release was Mission Mangal and now she is going to play a new role in the movie named Neeyat.
Neeyat is a murder mystery and in this movie, we will again see the reunion of the Shakuntala Devi team. It is a movie which is directed by Anu Menon and produced by Prime Video and Vikram Malhotra-led Abundantia Entertainment.

Neeyat, Vidya Balan’s new movie was released in theatres on 7th July 2023. On the first day of its release, it collected Rs 1.20 crore at the box office. Neeyat is going to be released on Amazon Prime Video, but no official announcement has been made regarding the release date. But all the digital rights of the movie Neeyat have been brought by the OTT platform named Amazon Prime Video. It is expected it will release on the OTT platform Amazon Prime in the month of September 2023.
Plot
Neeyat is described as a mystery thriller that revolves around solving a crime. A Note from Makers read, the movie narrates a “gripping suspense story of an unlikely detective, played by Balan, who investigates mysterious murders at a billionaire’s party where nothing is what it seems and all suspects hide a secret or two”.
Cast
The movie stars Ram Kapoor, Rahul Bose, Neeraj Kabi, Shahana Goswami, Amrita Puri, Dipannita Sharma, Niki Walia, Shashank Arora, Prajakta Koli, and Danesh Razvi.
Anu Menon, Priya Venkataraman, Advaita Kala, and Girvani Dhyani have written the screenplay and Kausar Munir has written the dialogues. After her successful performances in three acclaimed films that premiered on Prime Video- ‘Shakuntala Devi,’ ‘Sherni,’ and ‘Jalsa,’ this movie marks Vidya’s return to the big screen post-pandemic.
Vidya’s new movie also led to a second theatrical co-production for both Abundantia Entertainment and Prime Video after Akshay Kumar’s Ram Setu which has failed to attract the audiences.
