Siddique was attacked while bursting firecrackers outside his son Zeeshan’s office in Bandra. The incident occurred between 9:15 and 9:20 p.m. when three assailants, their faces covered, emerged from a vehicle and opened fire. Siddique was struck in the stomach and chest. He was rushed to Lilavati Hospital by bystanders, but despite efforts, he succumbed to his injuries.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde confirmed that two suspects have been arrested in connection with the attack. “One suspect is from Uttar Pradesh and the other from Haryana. The third attacker is still at large, but the police are actively searching for him,” Shinde stated.

Baba Siddique Shot Dead All Details

Baba Siddique had joined Ajit Pawar’s NCP in March 2024 after a long political career, during which he had been elected as a three-time MLA from the Bandra West constituency. He had also served as a minister in the Congress-NCP government in the early 2000s. Known for his work championing the minority community and secular causes, his sudden and violent death has left a void in the political landscape.

Deputy Chief Minister and NCP leader Ajit Pawar condemned the attack, calling it “extremely unfortunate and condemnable.” Sharad Pawar also expressed his sorrow, saying, “We have lost a leader who fought tirelessly for the minority community and secularism.”

Siddique’s murder has sparked widespread outrage, with opposition leaders criticizing the Eknath Shinde government over the law and order situation in the city. Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Priyanka Chaturvedi expressed her shock on social media, stating, “The lawlessness in the city is unacceptable. This case must be thoroughly investigated by the CBI.”

As the investigation continues and more details emerge, the tragic death of Baba Siddique has ignited concerns about safety and governance in Mumbai, while his family and supporters mourn the loss of a leader who was dedicated to his community.
