Matchday 3 of the Nations League is now underway, with Portugal and Spain both picking up wins in their respective games. Here is everything that went down in the Nations League yesterday.
Nations League results June 9
- Switzerland 0-1 Spain
- Portugal 2-0 Czech Republic
- Sweden 0-1 Serbia
- Norway 0-0 Slovenia
- Kosovo 3-2 Northern Ireland
- Greece 3-0 Cyprus
- Gibraltar 1-1 Bulgaria
- North Macedonia 0-3 Georgia
- Malta 1-2 Estonia
Portugal 2-0 Czech Republic
The inaugural Nations League champions are at the top of their table following their win over Czech Republic. They have conceded only one goal in three games, and have the best defensive record across all the A groups right now. Bernardo Silva assisted both goals for Portugal, with Joao Cancelo and Goncalo Guedes finding the back of the net in quick succession to give the home team the lead.
The Czechs offered more offensive output in the second half, but did little to test Diogo Costa between the sticks. As a result, Portugal deservedly saw out their lead until the final whistle.
Switzerland 0-1 Spain
Pablo Sarabia got onto the scoresheet within fifteen minutes of the game, and Spain were able to see out the one goal lead for the remainder of the 90. La Roja picked up their first win in the Nations League against a Swiss side that never consistently threatened. They are currently second in the table, two points behind Portugal.
