Napoli have agreed the signing of Gabri Veiga from Celta Vigo in a permanent deal. The Serie A champions will be paying €30 million upfront for the player, with €6 million available in the form of add-ons. The youngster will be completing medical tests for the transfer in the coming days once the documents have been signed and exchanged between the two clubs.
Several Premier League clubs such as Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea were interested in signing the Spaniard. But, they did not pay the €40 million release clause in his contract. And now, Napoli have reached an agreement to sign the player for a little below his release clause.
Gabri Veiga to sign for Napoli from Celta Vigo
In the 2022/23 season, he played 36 games for Celta Vigo, scoring 11 goals and providing four assists. With fellow youngsters like Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Victor Osimhen at Napoli, the Azzurri could have yet another impressive season.
Luciano Spalletti resigned from his post as the head coach of the club, making way for Rudi Garcia.
The arrival of Gabri Veiga will have an interesting impact on Napoli’s style of play. They have played a familiar 4-3-3 shape this past season, but things could change in the coming season even though no major sales have taken place apart from the departure of Kim Min Jae to Bayern Munich.
