The 24-year-old PSV forward Hirving Lozano has signed for Napoli in a deal worth around €40million.

Hirving Lozano has spent the last two seasons at PSV Eindhoven. He scored 34 goals in his last two seasons for PSV. He caught the eye in the last season’s Champions League where he scored 4 goals.
Lozano also starred for Mexico in the 2018 World Cup. He scored a memorable goal in the 1-0 win over Germany in the group stage.

Lozano had been linked with Manchester United previously. But now he has finally swapped the Eredivisie for Serie A. Napoli have reportedly paid a club-record transfer fee reported to be €38m initially. They could end up paying a further €5m in bonuses, which will make the 24-year-old the most expensive player the club have ever signed.

The transfer deal has also made Hirving Lozano the most expensive Mexican in the history of the game. Wolves paid €38m to sign Raul Jimenez permanently earlier this year. With bonuses included, the Lozano deal will outdo that move.
According to reports, there will also be a €135m release clause in Lozano’s Napoli contract.

Lozano will join centre-back Kostas Manolas, right-back Giovanni Di Lorenzo and teenage midfielder Elif Elmas among the new faces at Stadio San Paolo this season.

Carlo Ancelotti guided Napoli to second position in Serie A last season. They finished 11 points behind champions Juventus. Ancelotti thinks his squad is better resourced this season. He said: “We have become more competitive. With Lozano and the other new arrivals, the level of quality in the squad has increased and we’re stronger overall than last year.
The club has had a very good transfer window and spent big, which I’m pleased about.”

Ancelotti further said about Lozano: “He’s a player that we’ve been tracking for a while and thanks to the club’s hard work, we finally now have him here with us. It wasn’t a simple operation.
Lozano brings extra technical quality to the squad. He’s full of desire and is very excited and motivated to be at Napoli. Those are the characteristics that we like, besides his technical ability. Hirving can play anywhere across the frontline. On the left, right or behind the striker. Maybe he can also play as a striker himself.
He’s a complete footballer with fantastic quality.”

Napoli will play their first Serie A match this season against Fiorentina on Saturday.
