Barcelona are through to the Round of 16 of the Europa League after an impressive 4-2 win over Napoli. The first leg saw the two teams draw 1-1 at Camp Nou, and the Blaugrana did extremely well to pick up the win at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium in Naples.
Barcelona defeat Napoli in convincing fashion
Jordi Alba opened the scoring with his weaker foot, finishing off a blazing fast counter attack to get the lead for his team. The visitors would double their lead through Frenkie De Jong, after the Dutchman scored an outrageous goal from well outside the box.
His perfectly placed shot ended up in the top corner of the net, with Alex Meret unable to move to save the shot either.
Napoli would get back into the game after Marc Andre ter Stegen conceded a penalty by tackling Victor Osimhen. Lorenzo Insigne calmly slotted the ball into the bottom left corner, giving his team a way back into the game.
But, Gerard Pique restored Barcelona’s two goal lead with a weak, but well placed shot to beat the goalkeeper again. Aubameyang scored the fourth goal for the away team, after a well-organised move to get away from his marker and finish the ball strongly.
Adama Traore provided the assists for De Jong and Aubameyang’s goals, and has had a brilliant start to life back in Barcelona.
Matteo Politano managed to get a consolation goal in the final stages of the game, slotting the ball past ter Stegen. However, it was too little too late for Napoli who were three goals behind their opponents.
