Real Madrid captain Nacho Fernandez is set to leave the club at the end of the season when his deal expires. The centre-back has communicated his wish to leave the club to the higher management, and will be able to join a club of his choosing in June.
Inter Milan have been linked as one of the options for the central defender, but he is also open to clubs away from Europe such as the MLS or the Saudi Pro League. The veteran has been with the club for 23 years, and his departure marks yet another chapter in Real Madrid’s recent history of the change in guard.

🇪🇸 Inter are showing again their strong interest in Nacho as free agent, after they tried to sign him already one year ago. But it’s not easy.

The 34-year-old is one of the few players to have made it to the first team from the Real Madrid academy. And he has been immensely successful during his time with them, winning 5 Champions League trophies and three LaLiga titles. By the end of the season, he could have one more of each.
While Nacho Fernandez hasn’t been a regular starter throughout his Real Madrid career, he has been readily available as a backup, and has consistently performed whenever called upon. Since joining the first team in 2012, he has played 355 games and has filled in across the backline.
Real Madrid have been linked with young French defender Leny Yoro, who could join them in the summer. However, they will have to spend a significant amount of money to sign the new centre-back.
