Nacho Fernandez remains set to leave Real Madrid, with no plans to continue in Europe. The central defender has now been approached by Saudi Arabian club Al Ittihad, and is in negotiations with them for a free transfer.

Should an agreement be reached, the player would reunite with former Real Madrid teammate Karim Benzema at the club, with the Frenchman already spending a year in black and yellow.

The 34-year-old captained Real Madrid to their 15th Champions League title this past season, winning 2-0 against Dortmund in the finals at Wembley Stadium. And after spending twelve years with his boyhood club, he will now exit Europe altogether to try out a new experience in the final chapter of his playing career.

The negotiations have not been completed yet, but are progressing well as called by French newspaper L’Equipe.

Real Madrid are planning to replace the six-time Champions League winner with Leny Yoro, a player they have been linked with for months. However, they are yet to start negotiations with the young French defender as things stand.
