Call of Duty betas have always meant one thing: multiplayer, and only multiplayer. **Modern Warfare 4** just tore up that rulebook. For the first time in franchise history, its open beta hands players a real slice of the single-player campaign — and Switch 2 owners get to join the party too.

## What’s New in the Beta

Activision and Infinity Ward confirmed the open beta runs **August 28 to September 1, 2026**, open to everyone on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2, no pre-order needed. The headline feature is **“Entrenched,”** a playable campaign mission set on a snow-covered battlefield on the Korean Peninsula, following South Korean marines and an embedded American soldier during a fictional North Korean invasion.

Pre-order customers already got early access from August 21–25, and Entrenched carries over into the open weekend too — so nobody misses the story preview.
