The Islanders have been on an unbeatable run in the league phase of the ISL, having won all their games this season. The club has already broken the record for the most consecutive wins in the league stage with 11 victories and the record for the longest unbeaten streak in a season with their 16th game. Mumbai City FC has also scored a total of 51 goals in the 2022-23 season, which is a new league stage record.

Jorge Pereyra Diaz has been the club’s leading scorer this season with 11 goals, followed by Greg Stewart and Alberto Noguera with 6 and 4 goals respectively. The wingers, Lallianzuala Chhangte and Bipin Singh, have also played a vital role in the team’s success, collectively scoring 16 goals this season. Chhangte and Bipin have been a thorn in the opposition’s defence with their speed, dribbling, and ability to link up with each other.

At the back, Phurba Lachenpa and the defenders have been solid, keeping seven clean sheets this season. Mehtab Singh has also emerged as a star player in the defence, which bodes well for the future. The camaraderie between the players has been the cornerstone of the team’s success this season, and it is evident in their impressive performances.

Mumbai City FC has already qualified for the play-off against Jamshedpur FC for a place in the AFC Champions League 2023-2024, which has been moved from a spring-to-autumn competition to an autumn-to-spring competition.

The Islanders’ journey to the ISL League Winners Shield has been nothing short of remarkable. Their determination, hard work, and team spirit have made them a force to be reckoned with in the Indian Super League. Congratulations to Mumbai City FC on their impressive performance and the ISL 2022-23 League Winners Shield !
