Hyderabad FC defeated the reigning champions Mumbai City FC 3-1 to halt their momentum. The Sky Blues took the lead initially, but were unable to hold on to it for the rest of the game.

Ahmed Jahouh scored his second-ever goal in the ISL, netting a thunderous effort in the 6th minute to open the scoring. But, Mumbai City FC’s lead would not last long.

Bipin Singh tripped Joel Chianese in the penalty box in the 13th minute, and gave away a spot kick to their opponents. Hyderabad FC captain Joao Victor converted the penalty to equalize thereafter. Mumbai’s goalkeeper, Mohammad Nawaz went the right way, but was unable to keep the effort out.

Shortly before the hour mark, Bartholomew Ogbeche scored against his former club to give the Nizams the lead. The striker launched a right-footed effort from the centre of the box to beat the keeper and earn the lead.

The game was finally buried in the 81st minute, by 19-year-old substitute Rohit Danu. Much like Jahouh, Danu buried his effort into the inside of the side netting after play was allowed to go on following a foul appeal.

Hyderabad have earned their first win of the new season, which puts them in a safe category for the time being. Mumbai, on the other hand, will be looking to turn their fortunes around the next time. They are already behind ATK Mohun Bagan in the title race, following their derby win earlier today.
