Muller reveals why Barcelona lost the Champions League match against Bayern Munich

Barcelona fell to the bottom as they suffered a humiliating 8-2 defeat at the hands of Bayern Munich. It was expected to be a close tie. Lewandowski’s Bayern Munich were favourites but Messi was believed to carry Barcelona over the line.

The match was far from close as Bayern was in top gear from the whistle. Bayern just tore apart the Barcelona team. They have hit the bottom and Messi too couldn’t rescue them this time.

Thomas Muller was adjudged as the Man of the Match for his brilliant display. The German has now revealed one of the reasons why Barcelona lost in the Champions League. He has taken a swipe at the attitude of the Barcelona players.

Muller said Barcelona looked overly relaxed ahead of the 8-2 defeat to Bayern Munich. He felt that his side were better prepared and had more appetite ahead of the game.

Muller said at an event hosted by Mobelhaus Hoffner: “I congratulate our coach.”

“Just one example: We had been warming up for ten minutes when Barcelona walked out onto the field to warm up. They were very relaxed.”

“That doesn’t have to mean anything. The match could have ended differently, but I think it turned out that we were very hungry.”

Muller also gave his thoughts on the possible departure of Leo Messi. He said: “Messi is one of the best players on the planet, also in the last 100 years. A change may be interesting for the world of football, except for Barcelona fans.”

“Nobody is critical of this. On the contrary, I am curious to see what his new path would bring.”

Muller also joked about trying to get Messi to sign for the Bavarians. He added: “I’ve talked to our CFO a couple of times and I don’t think we can do anything about it.”
