Having launched the MSI Bravo 15 for quite some time now with AMD Ryzen 4000H gaming processors, MSI had forgotten to update its first 7nm based gaming laptop with AMD’s latest APUs. But now it has and upgraded the discrete AMD GPU as well.
So, the new MSI Alpha 15 & 17 is powered by the Ryzen 5 4600H and Ryzen 7 4800H processors along with AMD’s own 7nm based RX 5600M mobile graphics which is pretty strong with 6GB GDDR6 memory and should give you almost GTX 1660 Ti like performance at a much lower price.
The laptop features a 15.6-inch or 17.3-inch FHD IPS-Level thin-bezel panel with 1920*1080 resolution and has a 144Hz refresh rate along with AMD FreeSync support. It’s coupled with dual-channel DDR4-3200 with upgrade support up to 64GB and also there are 2 x M.2 SSD Slots by NVMe PCIe Gen3 slots as well.
The Alpha 15 and 17 offer substantial value with a per-key RGB gaming keyboard, upgraded Giant Speakers. Also, there’s a Cooler Boost 5 thermal solution with a total of 7 heat pipes for the uninterrupted gaming experience.
For the ports we have 1x Mini DisplayPort 1.2 / 1x HDMI (4K@60Hz), 1x USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-C / 3x USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-A, SD(XC/HC) card reader. On the connectivity front, we have Gigabit Ethernet + Intel Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) also its good to see that MSI providing a huge 6-Cell 65Whr Li-ion battery that should last for longer.
