After wrapping up deals to sign Pau Torres and Youri Tielemans, Aston Villa have opened talks to sign Moussa Diaby from Bayer Leverkusen. The player has accepted the proposal put forth by the Premier League club, and Leverkusen are aware of this development.
A bid worth €35 million has been tabled for the player, but has not been accepted. Negotiations are still ongoing between both parties to come to an agreement for the transfer since Diaby is keen on the move.
Moussa Diaby says yes to Aston Villa with negotiations underway
The 24-year-old has been with Bayer Leverkusen since 2019, after joining them from PSG for a fee worth €15 million. His current market value is €50 million according to Transfermarkt, and the club wants an amount close to that to part ways with him.
The player has two years remaining on his contract, which means that Bayer Leverkusen are not under pressure to sell him. But, given the fact that he has agreed terms with Villa, a move could be in the best interests of all parties.
In 125 Bundesliga appearances, Moussa Diaby has scored 31 goals and provided 38 assists. And now, he could be up for a new challenge in the Premier League once the two clubs have reached an agreement over the structure of the deal.
