Mourinho given ultimatum to save Spurs job

Tottenham have given an ultimatum to Jose Mourinho who needs to secure a top-four finish in the Premier League to retain his job beyond the season. And considering the way the table is laid out right now, there is little that the Portuguese can do to jump ahead of all the other teams vying for a Champions League berth next season.

Hugo Lloris was furious following the 3-0 defeat to Dinamo Zagreb in the Europa League that saw Tottenham surrender their two-goal advantage to the Croatian club. Mislav Orsic scored a hat trick against the Premier League outfit, completed in extra time to seal the second leg win for his team.

‘I think we are all more than disappointed, it is just a disgrace,’ said the club captain.

‘I just hope everyone in the changing room feels responsible for the situation because it’s a disgrace.

‘The taste of the defeat tonight is more than painful and we are all responsible for that.

‘The accumulation, obviously we are a club full of ambition, I just think the team at the moment is a reflection of what is going on in the club.’

The defensive errors are becoming all too common for Spurs, and Mourinho’s emphasis of defensive football ahead of playing expressive football against an opposition that isn’t similar in stature creates a duality mindset in the players, leaving them confused as to whether to take their chances or to simply focus on not conceding.

With the way things are looking now, it looks ever so likely that we will be seeing Mourinho depart London once again.
