Earlier this month, Motorola officially unveiled the Motorola Edge (2024) as another device of the company’s Edge line, in North America. The phone seems to be very similar to the Moto Edge Part 50 Fusion announced in India – and is the center of a rectangular module, dual-camera sensors on the back, curved sides on the front, IP68, and in-screen fingerprint sensors. The All New Motorola Edge 2024
The Motorola Edge (2024) starts at $549.99 (₹46,000) and will go on sale from June 20th via Amazon.com, Best Buy, and Motorola’s site. Additionally, it will be offered by carriers such as T-Mobile, Metro by T-Mobile, Spectrum, Consumer Cellular, Straight Talk, Total by Verizon, and Visible.
The phone is also set to launch with Motorola in Canada.ca via select Carriers and Retailers in the coming days. Last year’s Edge (2023) gives way to the Motorola Edge (2024), which keeps the 6.6-inch pOLED display but gets a bump to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 778 Gen 2 from the MediaTek Dimensity 7030. Also, it has upgraded the battery capacity from 4,400mAh to 5,000mAh which provides a large battery backup on the device.
Both phones come with 68W fast charging, while wireless charging is rated at 15W. While both cameras come with a 50MP + 13MP dual-camera setup, these sensors should be different In general, this means the Motorola Edge (2024) gets a chipset upgrade. Compared to its predecessor, the 2024 model is thicker and heavier at 8.1mm and 174g, respectively, in exchange for a larger battery capacity.
Specifications of the Motorola Edge (2024) include a 6.6-inch FHD+ pOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate, 360Hz touch sampling rate, DC Dimming, up to 1300 nits peak brightness, and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. It measures 159.63 x 71.99 x 8.09mm and weighs 174 grams. Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 4nm Mobile Platform with Adreno 710 GPU, the phone is paired with 8GB LPDDR4X RAM and 256GB UFS 2.2 storage, running on Android 14 OS out of the box.
In terms of cameras, it features a 50MP primary Sony LYT-700C sensor with f/1.88 aperture and OIS, a 13MP ultra-wide camera with macro option and f/2.2 aperture, and a 32MP front shooter for selfies and video chats. Additional features include USB Type-C audio, stereo speakers, Dolby Atmos, and an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.
Connectivity options encompass 5G, Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 6E 802.11ax, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, USB Type-C, and NFC. The phone packs a 5000mAh battery with 68W TurboPower fast charging, 15W wireless sharing, and wireless power-sharing capabilities.
