Over the years India has given fine fielders like Suresh Raina, Dinesh Karthik, and Ishan Kishan. In T20, catches have great significance as it gets the batters of the opposition team to return to the pavilion quickly. Let’s have a look at the Indian players with the most catches in a calendar year.

1. Ishan Kishan- 27 (2022)

Rising cricket superstar Ishan Kishan apart from being a fantastic batter is a great fielder too. In 2022, he scalped 27 catches which is the highest in India. In the second T20I against Sri Lanka, he pulled off a catch that reminded the fans of MS Dhoni. As a batter, he jumped 10 places and currently is in the 23rd position in the ICC rankings for T20I batters.

2. Dinesh Karthik- 26 (2022)

Dinesh Karthik is one of the most experienced players in India. Tamil Nadu’s skipper took 26 catches in the last year, which is the second highest in this country. In IPL alone, he took 16 catches for Royal Challengers Bangalore.

3. – MS Dhoni- 24 (2012)

Legendary cricketer and former captain of the Indian team MS Dhoni took 24 catches, which was the highest by any Indian that year. The Chennai Super Kings skipper became the first wicketkeeper to register 200 catches in the T20 league IPL in 2022.

4. Suresh Raina-24 (2012)

Like MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina too took 24 catches in the same year in the shortest format of the game. Besides being a fantastic batter that the country has ever produced, he has shown fine performance in fielding too. In 2022, his catch that removed Ben Dunk in the semi-final of the Road Safety World Series is worthy of remembering.

5. MS Dhoni- 24 (2016)

One of the most loved cricketers in the world, Dhoni took 24 catches once again in 2016. His most catches in one T20 match is five. His judgments about any match have rarely been wrong.

6. Naman Ojha- 24 (2016)

Making his T20 debut in 2010 against Zimbabwe, earned a good reputation in international cricket. In 2016, apart from Dhoni, he took the same number of catches. In the Indian Premiere league, he played for Sun Risers Hyderabad and took 17 catches.

7. Suresh Raina-24 (2018)

Raina being an integral part of Chennai Super Kings has taken some spectacular catches. He’s considered to be one of the best fielders of India alongside Jadeja. In 2018 he took 24 catches in the T20 format and his fielding rarely disappoints. Back when he was in the T20 squad, along with Jadeja and Kohli, India showed up epic performances.
