Know the cricketers with most man of the match awards in T20I

In cricket, the “player of the match” award is given to that one cricketer whose contribution has been the most in that game. In T20Is, Indian cricketer Virat Kohli has been awarded this honour 15 times which is the highest. He’s followed by Mohammad Nabi of Afghanistan and Indian skipper Rohit Sharma.

1. Virat Kohli- 15

Virat Kohli who’s considered to be one of the greatest players in the history of the game has bagged the player of the match award most of the time in the T20I format. In 2014 and 2016 he won the Man of the Tournament in the ICC T20I and is in top of our most man of the match awards in T20I.

Afghanistani cricketer Mohammad Nabi played his first T20I game against Ireland in 2019 and won the, of the match award for scoring 49 runs and scalping two wickets. After Kohli, he’s in the second spot in our most man of the match awards in T20I list winning this award a total of 13 times.

3. Rohit Sharma- 12

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma is known for his amazing batting and captaincy skills. He made his debut in the inaugural T20 World Cup. He got awarded the player of the match for the first time in 2011 against South Africa. He mustered an unbeaten 53.

4. Mohammad Rizwan- 11

The star of Pakistani cricket Mohammad Rizwan began his T20I career by scoring an unbeaten 104 against South Africa in 2015. In that year he notched up seven half-centuries and became the leading run-scorer of T20I that year, this makes him gain the fourth spot in our most man of the match awards in T20I list.

5. Mohammad Hafeez- 11

Pakistani batter Mohammad Hafeez made his T20I debut against England in 2006. With a total of 11 T20I player of the match award, he bagged it for the first time in 2011. Pakistan was playing against Zimbabwe where he scored 71 runs and scalped four wickets.

6. Shahid Afridi- 11

Shahid Afridi made his debut against England in 2006. He was the player of the match in the finale of the T20 World Cup as he mustered 54* and scalped 1 wicket to help Pakistan win the final. In the 2007 T20 World Cup, he was awarded player of the tournament for his extraordinary performance.

7. David Warner- 11

Australian cricketer David Warner made his T20I debut against South Africa in 2009. Since then, he has played 99 matches and scored 2894 runs. He won the player of the match award for the first time in 2009 against Proteas as he mustered 89 runs, helping him manage a spot in our most man of the match awards in T20I list.

8. Suryakumar Yadav- 11

India’s current favourite Suryakumar Yadav has been awarded a player of the match award 11 times just like the other four cricketers. He has played a total of 45 T20Is. In 2021, he played against England and scored 57 runs and was the player of the match award. In the recent T20I match against New Zealand, he got his most recent man of the match award.

SKY’s recent form goes to show his talent and if he plays like this in the next world cup too then most man of the match awards in T20I list.
