The big six of the Premier League are the most financially strong in England, as well as across Europe. Naturally, they are able to afford the most expensive football players in the world as well. And this has often provided them with an unfair advantage over other teams in Europe which aren’t as well-off financially.

Let’s explore the most expensive football players signed by the Premier League Big Six-

Tottenham Hotspur – Tanguy Ndombele – €60m

Tottenham Hotspur – Tanguy Ndombele

Despite being one of the big six in the Premier League, Tottenham are not known for spending a lot of money on transfers. Their most expensive signing is Tanguy Ndombele, who was recruited in 2019. So far, he has failed to live up to the hype and still needs to win over the fans.

Arsenal – Nicolas Pepe – €80m

Nicolas Pepe

Nicolas Pepe joined Arsenal from Lille two years ago, but he has struggled to make a significant impression thus far. The winger has only managed to find the back of the net 25 times in his 98 appearances for the Gunners. It appears highly improbable that he will be reintegrated into the first team under Mikel Arteta‘s leadership again.

Liverpool – Virgil van Dijk – €84.65m

Liverpool is known for having one of the best recruitment policies in the league. And the €84 million spent on Virgil Van Dijk might just be their best investment ever. The Dutch centre-back is among the best in the world and has helped the team win the Champions League, and Premier League.

Manchester United – Paul Pogba – €105m

Pogba joined Manchester United from Juventus and has been one of the most inconsistent players in the league. At times, the Frenchman is among the best in the world, and other times, that very thought seems highly questionable. He has six months on his contract left and could walk out for free in the summer.

Chelsea – Enzo Fernandez (€121m)

Enzo Fernandez is the Premier League’s most expensive football player of all time

The Argentine is the most expensive football player in the history of the Premier League. He was signed by Chelsea during the January 2023 transfer window to smash the club-record fee for Romelu Lukaku. And so far, his arrival seems to have paid off. Enzo has signed an eight-year contract with the Blues until 2031 and looks set to be one of the top players in the league for the years to come.

Manchester City – Jack Grealish – €117.5m

Manchester City paid Grealish‘s £100 million release clause to sign him from Aston Villa. The winger has been quite impressive under Pep Guardiola after a rather slow start. He is now one of the mainstays on the left wing and has become a regular in Guardiola’s starting eleven.
