Ryan Murphy’s true-crime anthology is back, and this time it’s swinging an axe. *Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story* drops its official trailer, and the new season promises Netflix’s darkest, most feminist chapter yet.

## What’s the Story This Time?

After tackling Jeffrey Dahmer, the Menendez brothers, and Ed Gein, *Monster* turns to its first female subject: [Lizzie Borden](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lizzie_Borden), acquitted in 1892 of axe-murdering her father and stepmother in Fall River, Massachusetts. Season 4 leans into the theory that Lizzie and maid Bridget Sullivan shared a secret romance that fueled the killings — framed as an exploration of female rage across history.
