Berlin OTT Release Date, Plot, Cast, and Expectations: Everything You Need to Know
Money Heist or La Casa De Papel, is one of the highly-rated shows. For the fans, we have brought you a few exciting updates. If you think the connection with this series has been cut, then you are wrong; we are not done with it now. We are going to get a brand new South Korean remake of the fantastic action thriller spin-off. We are also getting a full-fledged spin-off with the fan-favourite character, Berlin.
As the final season of Money Heist touched down on Netflix in two parts in 2021, rumours of a long-awaited spin-off began to circulate. Alex Pina, the brilliant creator of the series, had been dropping hints about the possibility of exploring the lives of characters introduced in the main series.
The upcoming Money Heist sequence is nothing but the prequel that recounts the incredible heists that were carried out a little before the events of the original show. Pedro Alonso will play the lead role in the show. He will appear in his role as the hedonistic, witty jewel thief ‘Andres de Fonollosa’. In between these, he has been nicknamed ‘Berlin’ in the Netflix original series.
We would like to inform you that the remaining part of Berlin contains Joel Sanchez as he is playing the role of ‘Bruce’ who is a relentless action man. Begoa Vargas will appear in the role of the unstable ‘Cameron’, Julio Pea Fernandez will play the role of the devoted ‘Roi’, and Michelle Jenner is ‘Keila’ an electronics specialist. Tristan Ulloa is going to feature the role of ‘Damian’, a friend of Berlin and also a charitable professor.
In an interview with Oprah Daily, Pina expressed his openness to the idea of spin-offs, highlighting the rich and multifaceted nature of the show’s characters. He mentioned that the complex and layered designs of each character allowed for endless possibilities. Pina stated, “Almost every character of Money Heist has a duality that we would like to see in a spinoff. We could watch any of them in other contexts.”
Netflix eventually made it official, unveiling the new season in late November 2021, just days before the arrival of Money Heist Season 5, part 2. Alongside the announcement, a tantalizing glimpse of the upcoming spin-off was revealed, with the caption teasing the focus on another beloved character. Translated to English, it read: “We already met Berlin in #LaCasaDePapel, and now it’s time for Andrés de Fonollosa. We can already announce that in 2023, the spin-off of his life will arrive.”
Amidst the anticipation, Netflix treated fans to a brief but captivating trailer for the series during the Netflix TUDUM event in 2023. This glimpse into the spin-off’s world left viewers yearning for more, as they eagerly await the chance to delve deeper into the life of Berlin.
Berlin: Plot
In this upcoming spin-off, our attention turns to the enigmatic character of Berlin, also known as Andrés de Fonollosa. While his backstory received some exploration in season 5, much remains unknown about him. We discover that Berlin has had five ex-wives, one of them being Tatiana, portrayed by Diana Gómez. He refers to these relationships as the “5 times that he believed in love.”
Given that Berlin is The Professor’s brother, it’s likely that their early years together will be explored. We anticipate delving into their father’s death and uncovering how Berlin crossed paths with Palermo, Marsella, and Bogotá—important figures in his life and loves.
The spin-off may also shine a spotlight on Berlin’s audacious heist in Champs-Élysées, Paris, where he famously stole 434 diamonds. Furthermore, we may gain deeper insight into his battle with Helmer Myopathy, a condition that has shaped his life.
During Netflix’s 2022 Tudum event, Pedro Alonso and Alex Pina provided tantalizing glimpses into the forthcoming spin-off. Pina described it as a journey through Berlin’s golden years, exploring his exhilarating escapades and passionate romances throughout Europe.
A special treat was the reveal of the first script, affectionately referred to as the 33rd version, titled “Historias de Paris” or “Paris Stories.” Crafted by the talented team of David Oliva, David Barrocal, Esther Martinez Lobato, and Alex Pina, this script promises captivating narratives and thrilling adventures.
