An eventful Monaco Grand Prix ended with Sergio Perez finishing first, while Carlos Sainz finished second, and defending World Champion Max Verstappen completing the podium.

For new race director Eduardo Freitas, it was quite a tense day, because of the caution that he exercised during the race. Twelve minutes before the start of the race, heavy rain lashes the track. And as a result, Freitas chose to delay the start of the race which was met with criticism from the likes of Lewis Hamilton as well.

Ferrari have had a good start to the new season, with Charles Leclerc competing for the World Championship. He had never finished a race in Monaco in any formula before. And this year, his fortune only held a fourth placed finish for him despite earning pole position on Saturday.

A pit stop miscommunication for Ferrari resulted in Leclerc missing out on a significant chunk of time. And as a result, he remained fourth until the end of the Monaco Grand Prix.

One of the horrors of the race saw Mick Schumacher ensure a horrific crash, resulting in his car splitting in two. The race was eventually red flagged, and to the relief of spectators, the driver was able to walk out of the wreckage without any serious injuries. Freitas first opted for a virtual safety car, followed by a safety car decision before the red flag was given.

For Perez, it was pure joy as he won only his third race in F1, and Red Bull were able to have two drivers on the podium once more.
