Mohun Bagan SG defeated Maziya S&RC 2-1 in their AFC Cup Group D match in front of a home crowd at Salt Lake Stadium. Jason Cummings led his side to a narrow win over the Maldivian side to make it two wins in two games for the Mariners, as they top their table which also consists of fellow ISL side Odisha FC and Bangladeshi side Bashundhara Kings.
Cummings first took the lead for his side near the half-hour mark, before Maziya equalised through Wada. The forward then came up clutch for his side, finding the back of the net in the 92nd minute to take all three points from the game for his side.

Cummings could have had a hat-trick after he was given a penalty, but he tried to lay off the ball to a teammate like Luis Suarez did in LaLiga. But, his side squandered the opportunity and Maziya equalised shortly after.
Hussain Shareef of Maziya put in a remarkable performance for his side. But, he wasn’t able to fend off the Australian on either occasion. The absence of club captain Asadullay Abdulla was also a major factor which allowed the Indian side to take advantage, having been given a tough time throughout the game..
Maziya S&RC have been defeated for the first time in the AFC Cup this year, while Mohun Bagan SG remain unbeaten. The Durand Cup 2023 winners are in red hot form both domestically and in Asia, and are in a league of their own right now.
