It has been announced today that Kolkata giants Mohun-Bagan are in talks with technology-based firm, Streamcast Group to join the club as sponsors. The company has its bases in the USA, Europe, Middle-East, Asia and in Mumbai (INDIA).
The information was conveyed to the media by club secretary Anjan Mitra at a press conference at the Mohun Bagan club tent near late afternoon today.
Anjan Mitra claimed that “The company, Streamcast is in final talks with the club. And they are demanding 74% of the club shares. In return, they have pledged to provide ₹200 crore fund over 10 years. And a further sum of ₹150 crore will be arranged by the sponsors themselves”.
It is understood that talks are still in their final stage and not done yet. Despite calling the press and unveiling the name of the potential sponsor, there is still a sense of uncertainty.
On the other hand the Green & Maroon had a smooth victory in todays CFL match against FCI. They were on a position last sunday, where they could have sealed the Calcutta League. But for their disastrous second half on Sunday, Mohun Bagan had to share the points with Eastbengal.
Therefore, today’s match was very important for the Mariners. With today’s 5-0 victory, the green and maroon brigade consolidate their position at the top of the standings in the Calcutta Football League. Dicka and Co. have accumulated 23 points from 9 matches with a goal difference of +18. Dipanda Dicka was nominated the man of the match, as he scored a brilliant hat-trick.
