After a shaky start, Mohun Bagan took control of the game late in the first half. It ended up with a decisive 5-0 win against Food Corporation of India.
As the race for the Calcutta Football League (CFL) 2018 title heats up. Mohun Bagan took the lead as they got all three points against FCI in their ninth match of the league. Nothing less than all three points will work for the Mariners. As they stand level on points and goal difference with their arch-rivals East Bengal at the top of the table.
However, they could have been clear in the first position of CFL, had they not played out a thrilling 2-2 draw against Red and Golds in the electric Kolkata Derby on Sunday. Mohun Bagan had raced into an early 2-0 lead in the first half in front of a packed Salt Lake Stadium. But Subhash Bhowmick’s men fought back. They managed to draw the match and ensure that the points are shared.
Despite holding on for half the game, FCI’s young defence failed to retain composure once Bagan striker Dipanda Dicka found his feet. He scored a hattrick. While the other goals went to Pintu Mahata and Kim Kima.
