Travelling from IQ City Hospital to Durgapur Government College, people now find themselves on Mohun Bagan Avenue in Durgapur. The town 200 kms from Kolkata has now received its own piece of history from the club, with legendary footballer Jose Barretto and General Secretary Debashis Dutta in attendance for the inauguration of the Avenue.Â
Durgapur MLA Pradip Mazumder was also present at the occasion. The inauguration of the Avenue is the result of efforts from members of the Mohun Bagan Fan Club and the Durgapur Municipal Corporation to pay tribute to the ISL Winners of the past season.

The club has a connection to Durgapur, with their SAIL academy being operational in the town itself. Several players of the past and present have come through this academy.
Current Jamshedpur FC midfielder Pronay Halder and East Bengal midfielder Souvik Chakrabarti are both graduates of the SAIL Academy.
The club’s fanbase has been strengthened in recent years on the back of their massive success in the ISL. This season they are one of the favourites to win the league, as well as the mini-tournament that follows. On the other hand, they could also make it out of their group in the AFC Cup, provided they can secure a win on Matchday 6.
