Mohammedan Sporting have ended their long wait for silverware by winning the 23/24 I-League, securing promotion to the ISL for the coming season. They will be the 13th club to play in the top flight from the coming year, and are the second to benefit from the promotion system after Punjab FC last year.
The Black Panthers will also be the third team from Kolkata to play in the Indian top flight, joining Mohun Bagan SG and East Bengal. However, the plans on sharing the stadium might need another look since more than two teams can’t share the same home ground. The ISL’s day-to-day fixture schedule might be a workaround to that problem, however.

It was almost given that Mohammedan Sporting would win the title after Sreenidi Deccan played out a draw. And with their 15th win of the season, the Kolkata club have won the league title with a game to spare.
They have only lost one league game this season, marking a dominant performance from start to finish. But, the real challenge will arrive next season when they will face the best teams in the division.
