Mohammed Salisu is set to join Ligue 1 club Monaco in the coming days, following an agreement with Southampton over the transfer. The two clubs have agreed upon a transfer fee worth €15 million to be paid in four instalments.

Personal terms have also been agreed between the player and his new club, and he is expected to travel to the city tomorrow to complete his medical for the move. Once the formalities have been completed, he will officially be announced as a new signing for Monaco in the coming week.

The Ghanaian is but one of the Southampton players on their way out of the club following their relegation this past season. Club captain James Ward-Prowse and Romeo Lavia are also expected to leave, once the club agrees deals for their sale.

Salisu is expected to fill the void left by the departure of Benoit Badiashile and now, Axel Disasi, after both defenders agreed to join Chelsea. Monaco have also held talks with Fulham for Tosin Adarabioyo in order to reinforce their defence ahead of the new season.

The centre-back made 80 appearances in all competitions for the Saints since his move from Real Valladolid in 2020. And now, Mohammed Salisu will be taking on a new challenge in another one of Europe’s top five leagues after already having played in Spain and England.
