This last-minute addition signals a strategic shift for the visitors as they gear up to face a tough [India](https://technosports.co.in/tag/india/)n side in conditions that often reward disciplined bowling. We think this selection adds crucial depth to their seam attack, especially considering the challenging pitches expected during the tour. ## Strategic Impact of Saleem’s Inclusion The choice to bring Mohammad Saleem on board shows a broader tactical evolution within the Afghanistan camp. They want to compete effectively against top-tier nations. Saleem, known for his ability to generate bounce and movement, brings a different flavor compared to the spin-heavy options currently available to the selectors. We believe his presence will be essential during the middle overs, especially since the team has faced challenges maintaining pressure on established batting lineups in the past. **[Selection Verdict]** Mohammad Saleem’s addition gives Afghanistan a genuine pace option that can take advantage of variable bounce, challenging the Indian middle order in the upcoming ODI series. We’ve seen that the Afghanistan squad has been sharpening its preparation to counter India’s aggressive batting style. With the series set to test both teams’ endurance and tactical skills, Saleem’s inclusion isn’t just about adding depth; it’s a direct response to scouting reports on how to disrupt India’s rhythm. The coaching staff is clearly emphasizing a balanced attack to bridge the experience gap at the international level. ## Context and Team Dynamics Afghanistan’s strategy for this tour is all about moving past their image as spin-reliant underdogs. Although the team is well-known for its world-class spin attack, management realizes that success in India needs a versatile pace unit. This development follows some impressive recent performances that showcased their resilience. We expect Saleem to fit into the existing bowling rotation quickly. Think about the historical context here: India often leans on its deep batting lineup to overcome early bowling threats. Bringing in a fresh seam bowler suggests Afghanistan is eager to challenge the Indian top order right from the start. However, the challenge is still significant, as the Indian team has shown remarkable efficiency in their recent home games, including a dominant performance where they overwhelmed Afghanistan in a record Test win earlier this season. Behind the scenes, there’s a concerted effort to blend younger talent with seasoned veterans. By including Saleem, the board is making it clear that current form matters more than past reputations. We expect the upcoming ODIs to serve as a real test for this revamped squad. If Saleem can find his rhythm quickly, he might just become a regular in the white-ball setup. --- ## FAQs ### Why was Mohammad Saleem added to the squad?
