Mohamed Salah scored the second goal for Liverpool against Ipswich Town in their opening game of the season. The Egyptian’s effort ensured that the game ended 2-0 in favour of the visitors, as he also assisted Diogo Jota for the first goal of the game.

In doing so, Salah restarted his streak of scoring on the opening day of the Premier League. The winger has now scored on the first day of the season nine times, more than legends Frank Lampard, Wayne Rooney and Alan Shearer.

The 31-year-old started scoring on his debut in the 2017-18 season before going on to continue the feat till last year. He drew a blank at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea in 2023-24, as Liverpool played out a 1-1 draw on the opening day with Salah’s streak broken.

However, he got things back on track this year and did so on his 350th appearance for the club. In total, he has provided 300 goal contributions in 350 games for the Reds, and has cemented his spot as a club legend.

Liverpool will now face Brentford in their second game of the new season, after a solid second half performance in their first outing.
