Mohamed Salah and his agent, Ramy Abbas, have declined the latest contract proposal from Liverpool. The winger has been offered a new deal to extend his stay with the club but is not satisfied with the terms that have been offered just yet.
The last meeting between the two parties was in December, and talks have not progressed since then. Currently, the negotiations have broken down after the rejection from Salah and his entourage. But, he is willing to continue negotiating with the club over a renewed deal.
Mohamed Salah contract talks break down but…
Although they don’t have an agreement just yet, Mohamed Salah has his eyes set on a future at Liverpool. The player and his agent will work together to extend the contract with the Merseysiders when the time is right in the future.
Salah’s contract is set to run out in June 2023, but that hasn’t affected his performances on the pitch. In fact, he is by far the best in the Premier League this season and leads the charts for the most goals and assists.
Naturally, it is a priority for Liverpool to extend the deal of their best player in the near future. Otherwise, they run the risk of having to sell him in the summer or worse, losing him for free in 2023 when his deal runs out.
The ball is now in Liverpool’s court to offer the Egyptian a better deal so that he can agree to extend his stay at Anfield.
